March 13th, 2005

This in an exclusive interview for this website (http://www.zunshine.com) only. Please don't take it!

Big thanks to Rachel Lindsay Greenbush for agreeing to do this interview!!

How would you describe the different characters of Jill (Sunshine), Carrie (Little House on the Prairie) and Butterfly (Matt Houston)?
Jill is really too little to be described as anything. The difference between Carrie and Butterfly is Butterfly comes from an abusive home. Although Butterfly is still innocent she doesn't have loving parents to protect her and she will grow up too fast on the streets.

Do you have any memories from the making of"Sunshine"?
I don't but Sidney does.

Do you ever watch old episodes of "Little House on the Prairie", and if so how does it feel to see them today, 30 years later?
Yes I still watch them. I still see things I wish a could change and scenes I wish I could do over because I know I could do them better now.

The opening scene of "Little House" where Sidney falls has become a cherished classic - are there any other scenes where you (or Sidney) did something that wasn't in the script but that still ended up in the show, that you can remember?
When you are working with kids and animals the unexpected always happens but I can't think of anything right at the moment.

As a child, what things do you feel you had in common with Carrie, and what do you think the biggest differences are between you yourself and the character you played for a big part of your childhood?
Carrie had the perfect home life nobody in really life has a home life and family unit that perfect. I was very innocent and naive the same as Carrie. But I got to travel and experience many things in my young life that Carrie would have never gotten the opportunity to do because only the rich at that time got treated to such pleasures.

Is it true that originally only one of you was supposed to play the part of Alissa (in the episode "The Godsister") while the other played Carrie? And if it was, what changed it?
My Mom would usually choose who got dressed and worked that day. When she told us about the story we both wanted to be Alyssa. To make it fair to both of us she let us switch off.

If you could have decided a storyline for Carrie, is there anything in particular you would have liked her to do?
Just to be more involved with my sisters and everyday family life. They make it look like Carrie wasn't really close with her sisters and Laura never takes her fishing or riding. I grew up on a ranch till I was 7 and sometimes the only people to play with are your Siblings.

Have you read the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder?
I have started the first book but haven't finished. I was surprised that the real Jack was so opposite of the Jack we had on the show.

After "Little House", did you and Sidney audition for different kind of parts (and if so, was it difficult to decide who would audition for a specific part, or did you both go to the same audition?), or did you audition for twin parts?
We auditioned for a lot of the same rolls and it cost us a lot of parts because nobody ever wanted to choose between us and hurt the other ones feelings. We were already used to that and we knew only one could get the roll.

Did you have anything to do with the decision to call your Matt Houston character Butterfly?
No it was already the title of the episode and character when I auditioned.

Did you have a favourite scene in "Butterfly"?
I like the one by the pool and the one where C.J. is tucking me in because I feel I preformed the best in those.

Have you done any acting after your "Matt Houston" appearance?
I screen tested at Disney For "Return To Oz" They picked another girl because she was younger than me. Not better just younger. The director wanted the young girl because if the movie was a hit she could do more sequels before she got to old for the role. The producer wanted me and I remember thinking when I read his letter explaining why they went with the other girl that the script was really demanding and that I felt because of her age she lacked the maturity to pull it off. She was 9 I think I was 13 or 14.

Is your brother Clay still acting?
Yes he just shot a commercial so be looking for it.

Your father Billy is a well-know actor - did he ever appear on "Little House on the Prairie"?
No but he did do Bonanza and Gun Smoke and many more westerns.

Since our last interview you and Sidney have created your own website - greenbushtwins.com. Could you tell us a little about that?
It was just a way to let fans be able to see what we are up to and make contact for public appearances and stuff like that.

Do people still recognize you as Carrie?
People recognize me but they don't know why. They just know that I look really familiar.

Could you tell us a little about your life today?
Katlynn my daughter is my first priority still and tending to her needs. When I get spare time I like to got take a riding lesson on my horse Shawnee. She is a Jumper and hopefully I will have a picture of me jumping her to put on the web site.
